Books

BHSJ published several English books as a result of the Fuji Conference program. BHSJ members at Fuji Conferences initially discussed strategy and structure, marketing, finance, business and government, and technological development, which had long been regarded as the fundamental topics on business history. However, members started working on new themes in the late 1980s, focusing more on Japan's modern business and management in terms of a comparative history between Japan and other countries. The themes developed into more specialized categories around the 1990s: international competition in the steel industry, international cartels, education and training in corporations, and management in the context of the Second World War. Exploring both worldwide and country-specific topics, the research at Fuji Conferences promoted better understanding between researchers in Japan and other countries.
